Personality

In all things, Astrelle tries to uphold the values of the Temple Knights: honor, justice, and defense of the common Ishgardian. She's often considered severe in nature and is very serious about her work; it takes a lot for her to crack a smile. At times, her single-minded devotion to her duty comes at a detriment: she has trouble connecting with people. She's loyal to a fault, and does not easily see the gray in situations.Astrelle carries a lot of bitterness towards Ishgard's past, but she's hopeful for its future. She has a position in noble society, but struggles under its weight and often avoids social functions in favor of work. Her soft spot is children; she spends time volunteering with the orphanage in the Firmament.

Biography

Astrelle was born a bastard scion of a noble house. She is not sure herself which house she belongs to; she was abandoned in the Brume at a young age.Astrelle largely does not recall her younger years; she knows that she drifted from one place to the next, but she was only ever another mouth to feed, never a lasting member of a family. She carries a lot of resentment about Ishgard’s treatment of the people of the Brume into adulthood.As soon as she was old enough, Astrelle offered herself as a squire for any knight who would take her. She ended up squired to the heir of House Vairemont, a lesser house known mostly for its wineries. The knight was known for his great love of his family’s wines, and only occasionally left Ishgard proper to make wine deliveries in Coerthas. In one instance, when the knight was deep in his cups, Astrelle was forced to take up his sword to defend him against a biast, suffering grave injuries.House Vairemont, in recognition of her deed, supported her subsequent plea to join the Temple Knights. As a Temple Knight, Astrelle soon found she had a knack for swordplay. Her fight against the biast had been won through luck, but she quickly made up for it with skill... which she had little opportunity to display, as the Temple Knights largely had her on guard duty and similar tasks. Unlike some of her fellow knights, she never relented on her training and would often be found striking a training dummy in her scant free hours.House Vairemont also offered her the opportunity to join their house by marriage following her knighthood, and while Astrelle had no love lost on the nobility, she had little choice but to accept. Her husband, Vallerin, was distant at best, and she was no warmer to him. It was perhaps for the best when he was caught in the sudden snows of the Calamity and perished. Though she did not particularly grieve her husband, his passing brought her much closer to his parents and the rest of his family, and she remains welcome in their household. In recent years House Vairemont’s favor has fallen significantly, as Coerthas’s changed climate is no longer conducive to their primary means of labor.At the close of the Dragonsong War, Astrelle was tasked with defending Ishgard from the descending horde. Her long hours of training paid off, and she was able to deftly defend herself from the attacking dragons while allowing the smallfolk to get to safety.Now that the war is over, Astrelle continues to work as a Temple Knight to keep Ishgard safe. She’s started studying magic, hoping to use it to help defend the innocent. In what little free time she has, she helps out at the orphanage in the Firmament.

Hooks

Note: Astrelle isn't really one to travel; she's based in Ishgard and doesn't have much cause to leave. I'm willing to figure out a way for characters to meet her regardless, but she'll always end up back home.

Temple Knight
Astrelle works primarily as a guard in Ishgard; her posting varies depending on the needs of the Congregation. Whether you're a resident of Ishgard, a visitor from another place, or a fellow Temple Knight, the easiest place to find Astrelle is on duty or at the Congregation.Magic
Astrelle is confident in her ability to wield a blade, but she knows it's possible to combine it with spellwork. She's looking for someone who can teach her the fundamentals of magic so that she can defend others and heal them as necessary.

Nobility
Though only a noble by marriage, Astrelle has received pressure from the Vairemont family to remarry. The family's prospects have fallen considerably since the Calamity, and while Astrelle is not originally of their house, they see her as their best chance to regain some of the power they've lost. This does not sit well with Astrelle, but her honor demands she obey their wishes.Orphanage
In her free time, Astrelle helps out at the orphanage in the Firmament. At times she'll assist with various duties elsewhere in the Firmament, when needed, but she's particularly fond of the children and finds comfort in helping take care of them.

Out of Character

Player is over 30. I'm not interested in roleplaying with people under 21.I'm interested in both short/pick-up roleplay and longer storylines. I prefer Discord for more indepth storylines, but am happy to schedule something in game. Astrelle is an alt, so it's easier to get in touch with me via Discord to plan sessions.
